FIELD GEAR
The Tools Behind the Images
Photography begins with curiosity, patience, and time spent observing the natural world. The equipment I carry helps me adapt to changing light, unfamiliar terrain, and wildlife that rarely follows a plan.
Here, I share the tools behind my photographs, how I approach choosing them, and what I learn along the way. My goal is to help you find equipment that suits the way you see and work.
01 / CAMERAS & LENSES
Cameras & Lenses
The tools that shape the frame, from wildlife encounters to the wider landscape.
Camera Bodies
A camera should support the way I photograph. I look for reliable autofocus, useful resolution, and a body that is comfortable to carry through a long day outside. Those choices help me respond when a brief encounter becomes a photograph.
Lenses
Long lenses bring distant wildlife into the frame. Wider lenses make room for the landscape and the relationship between an animal and its surroundings. I choose focal lengths around the story I want to tell while keeping a respectful distance.
02 / FIELD ESSENTIALS
Field Essentials
Practical equipment that supports long days, changing conditions, and a quieter approach outdoors.
Tripods & Supports
Tripods, monopods, and the right head provide support when working with long lenses, lower light, or a carefully composed landscape. Stability matters, but so do weight, comfort, and the ability to move quietly.
Field Accessories
Memory cards, spare batteries, storage, a well-organized bag, and protection from the elements make fieldwork more dependable. The essentials I carry help me prepare, protect my equipment, and keep attention on what is happening around me.
03 / EDITING & POST-PROCESSING
Editing & Post-Processing
A considered workflow, from organizing a photograph to preparing it for print.
Digital Darkroom
Lightroom Classic is the center of my editing workflow. I use it to organize photographs and refine light, color, and detail while preserving the character of the original scene. Selective adjustments support the photograph without overwhelming it.
Printing & Finishing
Paper, print quality, and careful inspection shape how a photograph is experienced beyond the screen. For signed limited editions, local printing allows me to review and sign each print before it is sent to its new home.
