The Silent Wild website is operated by The Silent Wild LLC, based in Nebraska, United States. These terms cover browsing the website, reading its journal, using its resources, posting comments, and contacting us. Purchases through our separate Shopify store are covered by the transaction terms and policies presented there.
Using this website
You are welcome to explore the photographs, read the stories, and share links to our pages. Please use the website lawfully and respectfully. Do not interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorized access, submit malicious software, impersonate another person, or use the site to infringe someone else’s rights.
Field notes and photography articles share personal experience and general information. They do not authorize access to private land, restricted areas, or protected wildlife. Check local rules, conditions, permits, and safety guidance before acting on information you find here.
Photographs, writing, and other content
Copyright and other rights remain with Michael Hayes, The Silent Wild LLC, or the credited rights holder, as applicable. Viewing a photograph online does not grant permission to reproduce, redistribute, sell, commercially exploit, or create derivative works from it.
You may share a link to a photograph’s page rather than copying the image. For editorial use, commercial use, publication, licensing, or other reproduction, contact us for permission. Any written license sets the permitted uses of the licensed material.
Purchasing a physical print does not itself transfer copyright or grant a reproduction or commercial-use license. These terms do not remove uses or rights that applicable law allows without permission.
Photographic ethics and authenticity
The Silent Wild places wildlife welfare, respect for wild places, and truthful presentation at the center of its photographic work. We do not use generative AI to create photographic artwork or to generate, replace, add, or extend visual content within those photographs.
Comments and messages
Please submit only material you have the right to share. Public comments should be relevant and respectful, without unlawful content, harassment, spam, or another person’s private information.
You retain ownership of your contributions. When you post a public comment, you permit us to display and format it as part of operating the website. This does not transfer ownership or authorize unrelated marketing use. Comments may be moderated or removed when they conflict with these standards.
Information sent through contact or newsletter forms is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
Print purchases and store policies
Our online store is hosted separately through Shopify. Before ordering, review the product description and the store’s terms, shipping, returns, cancellation, and refund policies. Those policies govern the purchase.
Prices, available sizes, editions, delivery options, and availability may change. A website inquiry does not by itself reserve a print or create an order.
